BLEED A bleed is an additional margin of printing that extends beyond the trim margins of the finished piece. This allows the image area to extend to the trimmed edge of the piece. Bleeds should extend at least 1/8” beyond the trim area for most applications.
DPI
This stands for “dots per inch”, and refers to the number of dots a printing press will place per inch of image area. The higher the number, the more resolution a printed image will have. For high-quality offset printing, 300 dpi resolution is sufficient. Keep in mind that most images created for websites or screen viewing are produced at 72 dpi, which is not sufficient for print production.
